After losing the knife, Eli put up his fists, not back down, but was swiftly beaten back down. Ocelot tried to grab the knife, but was met with resistance, eventually having to perform CQC on Eli. A Diamond Dogs soldier tried to discipline him, but had his knife stolen and put up to his neck by the young Eli. Later, as Venom Snake returned to Mother Base from a day out in the field, he saw Eli talking to another child soldier, who mentioned his "papa" which threw Eli into a rage for ever looking up to an adult. Being so headstrong and irritable, it was next to impossible to complete the process with Eli. As a child at Mother Base, it was planned for him to receive and education and be sent back into society to become a useful citizen. Snake very easily subdued him using Close Quarters Combat and dislocated his arm, later popping it back in and leaving him toe hopefully calm down. Back at Mother Base, Venom Snake playfully slapped Eli on the back, who was angered by this friendly display from the man he hated to the most and stole Snake's knife off his back and attacked him with it. Snake subdued Eli and returned with him to Mother Base, confused by Eli's inherent hatred towards him. He encountered Eli, sitting on a lawn chair as if it was a throne with the head of a pig on a platter, imagery very similar to Lord of the Flies. Eli and his band of child soldiers had taken residence in Masa Village, and Venom Snake was sent to retrieve him, hoping the group would fall apart without its leader.

It's never stated anywhere in the series that he has dominant genes. He has the superior soldier genes, which may or may not be dominant or recessive. He doesn't necessarily have the dominant genes.
